Hi, I’m Katlyn.

Since I was 5 years old, I have been writing stories. I’ve been blogging my own story for over 10 years and I currently work in entrepreneurship-focused community development. Some of the things that get me excited are creative nonfiction, arts and humanities, education, gender, digital media, and cultural research. I’m most interested in the way communication informs social interactions and identity, and I love that working with entrepreneurs allows me to pass the mic and empower others to create and tell their own stories while finding small-business success!

I graduated from Michigan State University in 2016 with a double major in English with a creative writing concentration and Professional Writing with an emphasis on nonprofit and intercultural communications and research. I currently live in Lansing, Michigan with my husband Rigo, our Boxer dog Miles, and our cat Tigger.

In my free time I practice and teach yoga, eat food, read books, write things, and sing karaoke. Sometimes I even train for half-marathons! I am always looking for new, creative ways to tell the stories of the world around us, and opportunities to learn the “why” and “how” behind the “what” of effective communication.

On my blog you’ll find some of my more personal stories. I like to talk about professional challenges, mental health, community engagement, and pretty much anything in between. If you’re interested in stories I tell as a professional, hop over to my portfolio and take a look.

Think we’d write cool stories together, or have an idea for an awesome project? I’d love to hear from you.
