“A Trampoline to Reach Higher” – Sample Editorial

Part of my job at the Community Foundation was collaborating with the Executive Vice President on the foundation’s annual report. While this feature did not make it into the final version because of space issues, I polished up the article a bit further to serve as an example of my editorial writing capabilities.

This piece highlights Impression 5 Science Center, a local nonprofit dedicated to encouraging families to play with science, create with science, and challenge their understanding of science through interactive exhibits and activities. I began by interviewing the executive director to learn more about the program that received a grant from the Community Foundation, then worked to present his (awesome!) quotes in a cohesive way. Overall, I was very pleased with how this feature turned out and felt it was a good representation of Impression 5’s work in the community and the renovations funded by the grant.
